Real Food vs. Supplements

Hey friends, Chef E here Let’s talk about one of my favorite topics: real food. Not just because I love to cook it (I do), but because it’s the most powerful tool we have to nourish, protect, and restore our bodies. We hear a lot about supplements, powders, pills, and protocols. And don’t get me wrong—I’m not anti-supplement. They can be helpful in specific situations. But when it comes to actual nourishment, the kind your body knows how to absorb and use? Whole, real food wins every time.

Real Food vs. Supplements
Bioavailability is the Real MVP

Bioavailability is a fancy way of saying: how well your body can absorb and use what you eat. And your body doesn’t just need nutrients—it needs them in a form it recognizes.

That means:

  • Not isolated vitamins ripped from their natural sources
  • Not synthetic versions stripped of their cofactors and enzymes
  • Not a shelf full of pills that confuse your system

Your body was designed to recognize real food. It evolved with it. It expects it.

Think of real food as a full symphony—not just a single note. One carrot isn’t just “beta carotene.” A steak isn’t just “protein.” It’s a concert of nutrients—amino acids, B vitamins, minerals, peptides, healthy fats, and co-factors that work together in harmony.

Meat is (Officially) Medicine

I love the idea of food as medicine, and nowhere is that clearer than with properly sourced meat. We’re talking pasture-raised, grass-fed, clean cuts that nourish from the inside out.

One of my favorite real-food shortcuts? Ancestral Blends from Force of Nature. These blends combine muscle meat with nutrient-dense organ meats like heart and liver. And if that sounds intimidating—don’t worry. The flavor is mild and cooks up beautifully. We use it in tacos, meatballs, pasta sauce… you name it.

These blends are:

  • Rich in bioavailable B12, iron, zinc, choline, and folate
  • Naturally loaded with vitamin A, K2, D, and CoQ10
  • Full of collagen, peptides, and creatine for energy and repair

You won’t find that in a multivitamin.

But Don’t Forget the Plants 🌿

This isn’t just about meat. True nourishment comes from balance—that means loads of seasonal vegetables, fruits full of color and antioxidants, and healthy fats like avocado, olive oil, grass-fed butter, and wild-caught fish.

The key is giving your body what it actually needs—and that’s exactly what we focus on at New Leaf Table.

Every week, we help you:

  • Cook simple, deeply nourishing meals
  • Use ingredients your body loves and understands
  • Get all your groceries with one click through Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods
  • Feel confident feeding your family real, powerful food without stress

You don’t need a medicine cabinet full of mystery pills. You need real food, made doable.

That’s what we’re here for.

With joy and nourishment always,

Chef E
